Life | The British Tag

It's another tag this week! Today I'm doing the British Tag as I was tagged by Megan from SecretlyMegan. Tag posts are some of my favourite posts to read, and I can't wait to get stuck into this one!

1. How many cups of tea do you have a day? How many sugars?

Way too many. If I'm not at work I probably have 3-4 a day, if I'm at work that can jump to like 5-6! I also have two sugars, I usually have sweeteners though before you shoot me down!

2. Favourite part of your roast?

My mum does the best roast potatoes! Stuffing is my ultimate weak spot though..

3. Favourite dunking biscuit?

It's either a good rich tea biscuit, a digestive or a good hobnob. Even better if it's the chocolate ones..

4. Favourite quintessentially British pastime?

Well easily having a good cup of a tea and a slice of cake. I cannot tell you how much it took to resist 'A cheeky Nandos' as this answer.

5. Favourite word?

That's British? Arse. It just sounds so much better than ass.

6. Cockney rhyme slang?

I don't use rhyming slang cause of where I live, but I do love "Can you Adam and Eve it?"

7. Favourite sweet?

Rosy Apples! The little hard boiled sweets that are green on one side and pink on the other? Best sweet ever.

8. What would your pub be called?

This is difficult, it's a question I've never had to think about it. The Teacup.. I love my tea.

9. No# 1 British person?

David Attenborough.

10. Favourite shop/restaurant?

Can I say Betty's Tea Rooms? I've never been but I've fallen in love with them from Instagram. Again, the temptation to write Nandos..

11. What British song pops into your head?

Everything by Queen..

12. Marmite?

Love it, I have to be in the mood for it though.

I don't have anyone specific to tag, but if you read this and end up doing it let me know below and I'd love to read them!

Festival Friday | Hair & Makeup

So I think it's my last Festival Friday! I know it's only been three posts, but I think I've covered the basics, unless I can think of anything else to add that's it; you're all festival ready! Well not quite yet, lets talk hair and makeup..

Hair and makeup is another thing that I'm always seeing 'Festival Inspired' everywhere, but none of it is practical, let me explain.

Let's start with my biggest no no, hats. I know this is weird as last week one of my festival essentials was a beanie, but bigger hats for the day time, just no. Believe me they may look cute but take one of those into the arena and stages and it will just be stolen.

Mermaid and beach waves are everywhere this year and they'd be a really easy look to achieve at a festival, just wet your hair and stick it into plaits and then the next morning instant beach waves and mermaid hair!

I see loads of girls wearing flower crowns and go for it if you can pull one off. I personally can't cause I feel like my face is too round, but they're a great way to hide the start of those greasy roots that will start to kick in!

Just like a floral crown a bandana is going to do a great job of hiding those greasy roots and looks great whether you're hair is up or down.

Let's be realistic here, the majority of the time you're at a festival you're hair is going to be up. Mine was at least anyway. It's going to be filled with dry shampoo by the end of the weekend and you're just going to want it out of your face, and you can't go wrong with the simple top knot. It looks cute, hides all the nastiness and is super simple!

Let's be honest, all of these girls have created some incredible makeup looks and I'd definitely consider them for a festival themed party. However for my time at an actual festival? Not so much.

I'm always seeing colours and glitters being the top festival makeup must have, when realistically even makeup isn't a must have! Like I said in my essentials last week, I took my powder and my mascara to make me look a little bit alive but that's it. If you're the kind of person who can do perfect winged liner in a tent using a tiny mirror than I am actually envious of you.

So those are my Festival Hair and Makeup Tips and my Festival Friday tips! Are there any tips that you would like to share? Do you think that I have missed anything that you would want me to cover? Let me know below!

Travel Diaries | London Baby!

So this month me and Ryan became tourists in our own country and went to London for a few days! We mainly went due to the incredible present my parents gave me for Christmas, but we thought that we'd spend a few days and see as much of London as we could while we had the perfect chance!

On our first day we were kind of just aimlessly wandering around London, not really knowing where we were or what we would find, and we accidentally stumbled across St James Park! I couldn't believe that I was somewhere that I had watched on TV so many times with such pride.
Being in London there is one thing that you simply have to see; Buckingham Palace, I was literally in awe.
We mainly went to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard, which was just incredible and made me immensely proud whilst I was watching it up at the fences with all the tourists.
We went to Borough Market, which I actually didn't even know existed, and got to try some amazing street food! I really wish the pictures did the food more justice as to just how incredible it was, and for such good prices. Somewhere that you really need to experience, even if you don't buy anything.
Of course we just had to visit Oxford Street, where I was able to go into the prettiest Disney Store that I will ever see in my life. Unfortunately Ryan wouldn't let me sit in Cinderella's carriage, or buy me anything that I was lusting over, probably cause that was nearly everything in the shop.
Being on Oxford Street only meant one thing though, apart from the fact that I had to visit the Oxford Street Primark, I was going to Selfridges. Walking into this shop was like dying and going to heaven, it actually is my idea of heaven! At one point I was trying not to cry, it's such an overwhelming feeling and it's just the best place. Of course I had to buy something and have my very own Selfridges bag, unfortunately it wasn't one of the £400 Victoria Beckham dresses that I very quickly backed away from, trying not to breathe over them..
Anyone who knows me knew that the one thing I wanted to do in London was to run around the National History Museum pretending I was David Attenborough and I'm pretty sure I was like a little kid in a sweet shop when we visited. It was incredible and everything I hoped it would be, I got to see Dippy so my visit was made as soon as we walked in!
Of course the main reason for me and Ryan going to London was to take part in the Harry Potter London Locations Tour that my parents had bought me for Christmas. For a huge Harry Potter fan like me it was the best couple of hours walking around London, I got to see where some of my favourite ever scenes had been filmed and I could just secretly cry inside knowing that I was stood where Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson had once been, without sounding too crazy. But for someone like Ryan who doesn't care for Harry Potter it was a great way for him to see the sights of London. The tour ends at Platform 9 and 3/4 and who isn't running through the platform proudly displaying their house colours? I even visited the Platform 9 and 3/4 Shop and picked myself up a travel card holder and some every flavour beans!

So that was just a snapshot into our time in London, we did and saw so much but I wanted to keep this short and sweet. We absolutely loved our time in London and I'd love to go again because there is still so much to see and do!

Have you ever been to London? Is there anything that we didn't get a chance to do that we definitely should have? Let me know below!

Festival Fridays | Festival Essentials

So first let me apologise for two reasons: One I've been so absent lately, but that is what final deadlines will do, and two because I said I was doing Festival Hair and Makeup this week, but my final deadline hasn't given me the time to even think about that post, so this week I'm talking about those festival essentials!

So above is the list that I actually worked off last year when I was packing for Leeds, and here are the essentials that I took with me, apart from my sleeping bag, clothes and chair!

Last year we had an early bird ticket so we got in two days early, so in total we were at Leeds fest for 6 days. For those days I packed 9 tops, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of shorts, 12 pairs of underwear, 12 pairs of socks, one hoody and a spare bra, no one ever thinks of the spare bra if you get wet! I was lucky last year because Ryan's Dad has two pairs of waterproofs, so they also got thrown in!

I'm sure you can pick out some of the obvious things that you'd think to take with you like the deodorant, dry shampoo, hairbrush, hand gel and face wipes. I've also pictured a tiny bit of makeup, makeup is one of the last things you'll be thinking about at a festival, but I took just my powder and my mascara to just make myself look a little bit more alive every day, definitely not an essential though.

There's also things that seem so obvious that if you're anything like me, unless I put them on my list I'd forget to pack them. These are things like my ID and money, my bum bag, the toilet paper, the towel and the suncream. I don't have a lot of money pictured, and how much you'd take would be up to you.

I took a bit with me because I knew that I would be buying food there. I would recommend taking some of your own with you though, I just took a couple of boxes of cereal bars to keep me going at camp, I could also just throw a couple into my bag when going down to the arena and stages. It also gave me a little something when I just woke up. The same with drink, what you take and how much again is up to you, just remember that most festivals only allow plastic bottles and you can only take soft drinks with you.. Get creative!

But there's also things that you wouldn't think to pack like the bin bags and a pillow case. I can feel you all looking at me gone out so let me explain, the pillow case gives you a way to keep your clean clothes separate from your dirty clothes (I used my pillow case to keep my clean clothes in), but also something extra to sleep on at night. The bin bags? If you clothes get wet, again they're another way to keep your clean and dirty clothes separate but also protect everything. And I'm sure you've all seen at least one person using them as a makeshift poncho for when it rains.

You're also not going to be wanting to live in your wellies all weekend so I'd highly recommend taking a spare pair of trainers that you really wouldn't mind if you got them really muddy. I personally only wore mine while we were back at camp around the campfire and if I just ran to the toilets, otherwise I was in my wellies every other moment, the obvious festival essential.

This is the bag that I took with me, it's what I would call a proper little explorer bag, I picked it up from Tesco for like £20. I went with my boyfriend and his friends to Leeds last year and they actually commented on how they'd never thought to even thought to bring a bag like this, believe me it made fitting everything in so easy and it saved my back so much.

I've also pictured how I carried my wellies, it looks a bit strange and when I was travelling on the train up I got some strange looks, but they're going to be one of the first things you'll want and I actually struggled to fit them in my bag, so I had a brainwave moment and clipped them to the side!

So those are my festival essentials, with a few optional items thrown in! What are you essentials? Have I missed anything super obvious? Let me know below!

23. A Princess You Feel Didn't Deserve Her Happy Ending
I think they all deserved their endings.

24. The Happy Ending You Feel Didn't Make Sense/Was Too Easy

25. Favourite Sidekick
Easily Pascal!

26. Most Interesting Story
Beauty and The Beast.

27. Best Singing Voice
If I had to chose my favourite would be Rapunzel, but I love them all.

28. Edge Of You Seat: The Moment You Find Most Exciting

29. If You Were A Disney Princess, What Would Your Story Be
I'd love Belle or Rapunzel's story, but also Merida's!

30. What Do You Want To See From The Next Disney Princess
I want more princesses who are like Rapunzel and Merida, princesses who know exactly what they want.

Festival Friday | Realistic Festival Fashion

So today I'm starting my mini series Festival Friday! I've been thinking about the best post to start this with and decided that festival fashion would be a good place to start.

I'm not sure about guys, but at this time of year girls cannot escape "festival fashion". Well, festival inspired fashion.. I've always looked at festival fashion and questioned how practical it really is, especially when you're wading through mud in a field, and attending Leeds Festival last year really proved this point to me.

The British weather lately has been hugely hit and miss; it's raining one second and sun is shining the next. So I grabbed a minute of sunshine when I had chance, so please excuse the lighting!

So I usually see Converse with shorts being mentioned as being perfect for a festival; if it's a day festival in a city then they might be, but if you're going to a weekend festival in a field the chances are you'll be wanting your wellies. They don't look as nice as Converse but believe me if it does rain, you'll be grateful.

Floral is a trend that so many people wear and it's easy to pull off for festivals. The best piece of advice I could give people is don't take something to a festival that you wouldn't want to get dirty, stained or potentially ruined, so for me I wouldn't be wearing the floral top.

The sun isn't always shining, or sometimes you just want to throw something on to cover yourself slightly. Kimonos are a huge part of fashion at the minute and I'm seeing them recommended everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love my kimono but after battling with portaloos last year I'm very aware of how impractical one would be when you're in a confined space and not trying to touch anything. I personally would just throw a simple checked shirt on, something that is still in fashion but also it's a little more comfortable.

Again, when the sun isn't shining or when it drops colder at night you're going to want something to cover up with. I've seen big, chunky cardigans recommended, but again after a battle with a portaloo my big chunky cardigan would not be coming with me. I'd throw on a jumper, it's something that you don't have to battle with in a portaloo and it's still comfortable enough, whilst keeping you warm.

You're not always going to want to be wearing shorts, and if rains you're definitely not. I'd highly recommend throwing in some jeans that are comfortable enough to be in all day long, but again some that you don't mind getting dirty!

So these would be my main tips for festival fashion! Do you have anymore that I have missed? Next week I'm talking festival hair and makeup!

Life | Dear June

Dear June,

It's a short but sweet letter this month, purely because again not much is going on but the things that are coming up I cannot wait for.

So I'm going to London this month, I think you underestimate how excited I actually am. I've only been to London once but that was with Sixth Form and I didn't get a chance to explore properly and do all the touristy things, so this time I get to explore and I cannot wait! I hope it is everything I want it to be.

It's also Father's day this month, there is nothing better than being able to spoil my parents. Granted, my Dad is a little harder to shop for than my Mum, but aren't all Dads? This doesn't stop me attempting to spoil him rotten though!

My final assignment for uni is due in, and apart from my portfolio and having paperwork signed off this is practically it for uni now. It feels surreal, I cannot believe how quickly three years have gone, however I also can't help but be slightly bitter that so many people are already finishing and moving on and I'm still at uni till September!

Finally, it's now officially Summer! All I can say is that I hope you bring many days filled with sunshine and many late nights full of laughter June.

Beka. xo
