Blogmas Day 31 | Dear 2015...

So it's actually the very last day of 2015. Let me say the cliche of where the hell has this year gone?! Honestly, I feel like this year of my life has flown by so quickly.

So much has happened this year; I finished university. I now actually am able to say "I'm a mental health nurse" without having to add the word 'student' in. I am not against student nurses; more that it feels so strange to me still that I'm actually a fully qualified nurse and I now have a whole career ahead of me. I haven't officially qualified yet however, no that happens in January 2016.

Thinking back I suddenly can't think of anything else that has massively changed in my life; writing this blog post while I can't remember anything was probably not the smartest idea I've ever had.. I feel that I've grown up a lot this year. I got my first job, well not my first ever job, but my first full time job. Sorry, that sentence is still super exciting to me.

Personally 2015 has been a big year for me, in so many good ways and I'll definitely be taking some of my favourite memories from 2015.

I have a few changes to my blog coming in the new year too; 1) My letter to each month will be published at the end of the month, allowing me to reflect back on, rather than the start. 2) Each month I'll be introducing a blog post where I share some of my favourite blog posts from that month to share some more love and positivity. 3) I'm going to be a lot easier on myself, and not stress out so much if I miss a blog post or if I'm not overly active on Twitter.

I hope you all made the most of 2015 and have some happy memories to take forward. If not for whatever reason, then I hope that 2016 is your year.

However you decide to celebrate then I hope you welcome in the New Year in style and enjoy yourself regardless!

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Blogmas Day 29 | What I Got For Christmas 2015

So it's finally time to show you all what I got for Christmas. Again, just like last year I am in no way showing off or bragging about what I got. These are my favourite kind of posts to read and videos to watch and I love being able to share with everyone just how grateful I am.
I wish I was joking when I told you that this is currently how my bedroom looks; I'm still not feeling well enough to sort through everything and give it a proper home.

I'm going to write this blog post in the only way I know how and the only way my brain will allow me to; chronological order in the way that I received my gifts. Starting with my gifts from my parents and brother.
As you can see I got a hell of a lot of owl themed gifts this year, would you guess that they are my favourite animal? Along with a Mulberry purse, my Harry Potter colouring book and Minnie Mouse slippers. Of course there are some Christmas favourites thrown in there to, what is Christmas morning without receiving chocolate?

Then in the afternoon I received my gifts from my Grandparents after eating far too much lunch. I was lucky enough to get the Harry Potter Illustrated edition, along with another new colouring book. I also received some beautiful bath bombs, products and lotions that I cannot wait to try, a beautiful top and some Disney pyjamas that I can't wait to wear! Along with even more chocolate!

Ryan pulled the ultimate long distance relationship trick that evening and actually turned up on my front door step holding the biggest gift bag I've ever seen and the most beautiful bunch of flowers. His parents treated me to so many wonderful gifts, more than I ever expect from them and I have been truly spoilt by them by receiving Soap & Glory, Dove and so many other pamper products!

And Ryan spoilt me to Disney goodies, and unintentionally started my Tsum Tsum addiction, bought me my very own Baymax and bought me my very own world map so that I can start to track where we have been in the world. He made the world map that extra special by adding in a Harry Potter quote, that still makes me squeal every time I think about it.

My cousin and his wife then came to see us on Boxing Day so I feel like I was spoilt even more by not only receiving so many products from The Body Shop but they also bought me a brand new Kindle cover which now means that I have my very own Book of Spells!

I am truly grateful for every single gift that I received this year and I feel like I have been thoroughly spoilt. I'm always so grateful to my family for everything that they buy me as they know me so well as always seem to make Christmas such a magical year by getting me those gifts that are just so personal. Christmas was such a great day this year for so many different reasons; being ill not included.

I hope you all had a fantastic day, were spoilt rotten and love everything that you received!

Blogmas Day 25 | Merry Christmas!

IT'S CHRISTMAS!

First of all, we successfully made it through Blogmas with only a couple of meltdowns and not a day missed; I have no idea how I've managed it but it was the most stressful month of my life!

Anyway, most importantly Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day, I hope you all eat too much and I hope you all get spoilt rotten. Most importantly, I hope you all have the wonderful day that you all deserve!

Blogmas Day 24 | Christmas Look Book

For me Christmas also screams party season; whether it's work Christmas do's, family parties, nights out with your friends, Christmas is all about celebrating so I thought I'd show you some outfits that I'd wear if I was going out for the night. Maybe this is a post that I should have done earlier in the month.. But hey, who doesn't still need an excuse to dress up? It's Christmas!

So this definitely is not how I imagined this post, I'd much prefer to be modelling the outfits.. But things don't always go to plan as this last week has shown me.
Starting with this beautiful floral print dress that I was so kindly sent by Stephanie's Closest. I haven't yet had the chance to review this dress; but there will be a post coming up in the New Year so look out for that! This dress is perfect for showing off curves and for me it's a dress that can be worn both night and day, perfect for any Christmas celebration!

While preparing this blog post I learnt that there is no way to photo a playsuit unless you're wearing it.. First of all I am in love with this playsuit. I got it for an absolutely steal from Miss Selfridge during Black Friday; it was meant to be £30 and I got it for £7.. I cannot wait to have an excuse to wear this! I find a playsuit a perfect option for those parties or nights out where you want to dress up but you're not quite feeling a dress. The bright coral doesn't seem to be coming across in the photo brilliantly, however is it just me that finds that the colour for party season?

And now for my Christmas Day outfit! Yes at 22 years old I am wearing a Santa dress on Christmas Day, and to make it even better me and my Mum will be wearing matching dresses! As I told you earlier in the month when I was little I always had a new dress to wear on Christmas Day, so why not bring back tradition and have a little fun with it to? I'll be wearing it with my beloved Pandora ring, as well as my usual necklace with my 18 and 21 keys on. I just think it's going to be a little fun and I can't wait to rock it! I'm pretty sure there will be a picture on Instagram if you're interested..

So that's my Christmas Look Book; the outfits I'd definitely wear on nights out and what I'll be wearing tomorrow. Do you have a Christmas Day outfit? What did you wear for your night out? Let me know!

Blogmas Day 23 | Christmas Makeup

Okay, so today was meant to be my Christmas Look Book; however I haven't had the chance to take my outfit pictures yet so instead I've swapped my look book and makeup post round.

I don't have anything spectacular planned for my Christmas makeup, I honestly wouldn't feel comfortable going all out with anything totally different. So my Christmas makeup is basically going to be my normal day to day makeup with my winged liner with a little bit of glitter thrown in for that Christmas sparkle.

I haven't 100% worked out how I'll be throwing that glitter in, whether it will be in my eyeshadow, adding it in my inner corner or adding a second flick with glitter liner.. I'm sure I'll decide on the day.

So that's what I'm planning to do with my makeup for Christmas day. Are you planning to do anything special? Let me know, I'd love to see!

Blogmas Day 22 | Christmas Nails

First of all I need to apologise for missing yesterday's post. Apparently collapsing, ending up in hospital and giving yourself a concussion really does take it's toll and I'm struggling to keep up with all my last minute blogmas posts. However, I haven't completely forgot about Blogmas Day 21, instead it's been moved to the 26th!

Okay so technically these aren't my Christmas nails.. I'll totally forgive you for calling me out on that, however due to being ill I just haven't yet had the time to paint my nails for Christmas, and honestly I don't even know if I'm going to get around to even painting them which breaks my heart.

So if I can't paint my nails for Christmas, I'm going to do the next best thing and at least show you the nail varnish I'd be using if I had painted them!

Me and my Mum bought these nail varnishes from Avon and if I remember correctly they're from their new Magic Effects Molten Metal range and we have them in Blue Steel and Graphite. Annoyingly I can't remember how much we paid for them, and I'm unable to link them for you!

My plan for my Christmas nails are to paint them a base white, most probably on my ring finger use Blue Steel to create a triangle for a Christmas Tree topped with a little diamond, and then I can't decide whether to paint my little finger all in Blue Steel, or create a glitter gradient on the rest of my nails.. Either way if I do get a chance to paint my nails expect to see them on my Instagram! I'll most probably end up using Graphite for my New Years Nails where I most definitely create a glitter gradient with my naked nails..

So those are my Christmas nails! What are you planning to do for yours? Do you do your nails for occasions like Christmas? Let me know!

Blogmas Day 19 | Dream a Little Christmas Dream

I feel like I'm one of the last people to read Dream a little Christmas Dream by Giovanna Fletcher, and I'm honestly not sure why it's taken me so long. Again it's another novella by Giovanna so I was able to read it and fall in love all over again all on my journey to work.

Again, just like Christmas with Billy and Me did last year, Dream a little Christmas Dream instantly got me into the Christmas mood, got me all excited for Christmas and really warmed throughout. The plot was completely realistic and I fell back in love with everyone, in fact I completely wanted to be part of that friendship group!

My only complaint is that if felt so similar to Christmas with Billy and Me from last year and I kind of guessed the plot straight away.. Ugh it's just killed me writing that!

Have you read Dream a little Christmas Dream, or anything by Giovanna Fletcher? What is your favourite Christmas book? Let me know!

Blogmas Day 20 | Surviving Christmas in a Long Distance Relationship

It's no secret that my relationship is long distance, in fact I talk about it quite openly. I know not everyone classes two hours as long distance, but when you factor in jobs (one of which is shift work) and life in general and realise you're lucky to see each other twice in one month, it gets classed as distance in my eyes.

I find that at this time of year it helps if you can obviously organise to see them as close to Christmas as you can, if that's possible. For me the last time I knew I'd definitely be seeing Ryan was when we went to Edinburgh, and fingers crossed we can maybe squeeze in some more time.

It sounds strangely obvious but Christmas presents. They give you something to look forward to, no mater when you'll be seeing them; either before or after Christmas you know you have something to share with them. And who doesn't love making their partner smile at Christmas?

Talk as much as you can. Again another thing that seems stupidly obvious, but if you're anything like me then you'll be sick of the sight of loved up couples and just be jealous you're not with your partner. I'm always talking to Ryan, and by talking I mean sending him links to everything Disney related on the internet.

Just remember to do those little things that mean the most to you as a couple, and only you'll know what they are. Christmas can seem difficult if you feel like someone is missing, but just remember it will all be worth it when you finally get to see them.

Blogmas Day 18 | Christmas Cookbook

So for me Christmas is really all about food, especially baking with all the different scents and flavours and just everything. I haven't really had any time to get baking for Christmas this year, but I've definitely had a chance to put together some of the Christmas recipes that I really want to try...
I couldn't resist including this recipe, I love owls and the small child within me still secretly wants to create all the decorations for the Christmas tree that I can then eat!

A posset is one of those deserts that I've always wanted to try. They remind me of mini cheesecakes, in a strange way.. And they just look delicious.

What is Christmas without a trifle? Me and my Mum have made many trifles, but I honestly don't think we've ever really made a traditional trifle. Also, how gorgeous does this look?

What is Christmas without chocolate in some form of cake? I couldn't decide between these two recipes as they both look delicious, however there is that little part of me that is just screaming that chocolate roulade is basically a Christmas tradition.

I love the idea of hidden centre cakes and I think this would be a perfect twist for Christmas time, especially as an alternative for all the chocolate cake or the Christmas Pudding!

Again I couldn't chose between these two cheesecakes, both screaming Christmas flavours out to me. I know that if I'm going to make one, I'll definitely end up making the chocolate orange one first and I don't think it will last too long in my house.

So those are some of the Christmas recipes that I'm dying to try, what are yours? Let me know!

Blogmas Day 17 | Decorating my Window

For the first year in what feels like forever I've decided to decorate my bedroom window and get myself in the Christmas Spirit a little bit more.

My bedroom is downstairs and the front room so I tend to avoid putting too much in my window when I can, also with me working a lot this Christmas and mainly being on nights I wasn't sure about doing it.

But now my room looks super festive and cosy and I'm so glad I've actually decorated my window.

So that's my festive bedroom window. Have you decorated your bedroom, I'd love to see!

Blogmas Day 16 | Family at Christmas

For me family is the most important thing at Christmas and family has always played a huge role when it comes to Christmas for as long as I can remember.

We're only a small family, and we're very close. Christmas morning is spent with my parents and brother, and the rest of Christmas day is spent with my grandparents. Then my cousin and his wife visit on Boxing day and that is our Christmas routine as we don't have tonnes of people to visit.

The best part of Christmas for me is being able to watch the smiles on everyones faces when they open their presents and how much we will all agree that we have ate too much when it comes to Christmas dinner. Family is all I ever want at Christmas and I'm so grateful that I always get to spend Christmas with my family and those that I love.

Blogmas Day 15 | Christmas Tree Reveal

So finally we have reached the 13th, well the 14th as you're reading this, which means that we can finally put our Christmas decorations up! We're very traditional in our house and that means that Christmas decorations cannot be put up until 12 days before Christmas, so the 13th, and must come down 12 days later.

This year having a new puppy who is growing, biting, chewing, and exploring everything we thought that it would be a good idea to go back to our smaller tree that we could put on top of the table rather than our big 6ft tree. My Mum was also over the moon as she managed to find a really good deal on a black Christmas tree and she's been wanting one for years!

As you can see we go all out with the glitter, fairy lights and tinsel, I mean hello it's Christmas!
We have glitter birds perched in our tree. Which always makes me want to burst into the 12 Days of Christmas every time one catches my eye..
We have our traditional Christmas tree decorations that have been passed down through our family for years and I'm pretty sure these will still be on my tree in the future!
And then we still have the Christmas decorations that me and my brother made when we were little that my Mum has clearly treasured since that day.

So that's what on my Christmas tree! What kind of decorations do you go for? Do you have a themed tree? Let me know, I'd love to see!

Blogmas Day 14 | Edinburgh Mini Break

So if you follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat or just happen to know me really well then you'll know that last week me and Ryan went up to Edinburgh for a few days! We went up with the intentions of exploring the Christmas markets and getting into the Christmas spirit, which we did, but we also got up to a few other things!
There is absolutely no missing the Scottish border, and after what felt like the longest journey ever I was so glad to see that we had finally made it to Scotland!
Once we'd checked into our hotel we were itching to get out and explore Edinburgh, see what we could find and experience the markets all lit up and bustling with people. Well, the weather had other plans. It was incredibly windy and wet so we first ended up running into Jenners as it wasn't too far from the hotel, where I ended up with incredibly decoration envy and then we dove into the nearest Starbucks to dry off and warm up.
If you saw the last picture on Instagram and wondered why I was looking so happy to be in toilet it's because I want in the Elephant House, or as more people might know it; the place where Harry Potter was written. For someone like me this is the holy grail of all holy grails and Ryan had said that we could go while we were in Edinburgh. Secretly, although I was dying to go I wasn't planning on going as I knew it was going to be something purely for me and Ryan wouldn't really get it, but he actually had to drag me in there. The food was great and it's a great little place if you ever get a chance to visit. If you're a massive Harry Potter fan like me then you will need to take a sharpie to the toilet..
On the second day the weather was a lot better so we went to the zoo, because hello have you met me? I'm the biggest child and I'm always wanting to go to the zoo if I can. Believe me, Edinburgh zoo reminds you that Edinburgh is mainly hills and I don't think my legs have forgiven me just yet. As we were walking back into the city I popped into the Lush and treated myself to a few things.
We then FINALLY hit the markets and what is a Christmas market without a Baileys Hot Chocolate? As I've got older this has become a staple for Christmas and will get me into the festive spirit without fail.

Edinburgh is definitely one of the prettiest cities that I have ever had the chance to visit and there is so much more that we want to do and see we'll definitely be planning another visit in the future. Just maybe in the summer when it's not so cold and wet...

So that was my mini trip to Edinburgh and what I got up to. Have you ever been to Edinburgh? Would you like to? Let me know!
