Life | Happy Christmas Birmingham

Yes I said it, the 'C' word!

Once again me and Ryan spent a weekend in Birmingham, mainly because we had two gigs that we were going to, but it just so happened that the German Christmas Market was also on.
It's November and it is freezing, I was also trying to pack light, so I went for comfort when dressing for the gigs! Saturday night to Mallory Knox, I just wore my jeans, with a black vest top and a stripped netted jumper, with my beaten up old converse. I really did go for comfort, we knew we were standing at the back so I knew I'd be safe in my jeans.

Sunday night for The Gaslight anthem I recycled my jeans and wore my Mickey Mouse jumper for warmth, I wasn't meant to be wearing this but we'd been out all day before we went and I was too cold to even attempt to change.

Both gigs were incredible, Mallory Knox and The Gaslight Anthem are both bands that I love seeing live because they both put everything they have into a show. My legs hurt, I sung my heart out and it was just one of the best weekends ever.
So Sunday was the day we explored the German Christmas Market that is on in Birmingham. It was an incredible day, a day that saw us walk too much, eat far too much food and also have one too many Baileys Hot Chocolates.. If you get the chance to go, I'd definitely recommend it, it really does get you into the spirit of everything and the atmosphere is just something else!
A very tired me on Monday morning was craving hot chocolate, so we hunted down a Caffe Nero, however being in Birmingham only means one thing.. We got a Five Guys! If you haven't been then I highly suggest that you find one and pay them a visit, best. food. ever.

So I didn't manage to get any decent pictures from either gig, probably because I was so far back and I'm so tiny.. But the lights look pretty in the pictures that I did manage to take.

Have you been to the German Christmas Market? Do you plan on going to anything like it? Do you have any gigs lined up? Let me know below!

Friday First | Village Candle Warm Apple Pie

This week's Friday First is another product that I was given for my birthday, and this week I have a candle.

Lately I'm really enjoying candles to help me relax, whether it be when I'm in the bath or whether I have one on my desk whilst I'm doing uni work.

As you can see above the candle I'm reviewing is the scent Warm Apple Pie, I honestly had no idea what to expect from this candle. According to the website the scent is 'sweet and tart apples, and baked vanilla with notes of cinnamon and cloves', the scent of cinnamon really does come through with this candle which I absolutely love.

I was initially worried that this candle would only be one wick, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was two wicked so my candle will burn cleanly and evenly.

When the candle is burning I couldn't really smell the scent and I was a little bit heartbroken as I had such high hopes for this candle, and when I burn my Banana Bread candle the scent really fills and room and really hangs around for days, but when I left the room for a moment and then walked back in I was greeted with the scent, so even though the scent isn't the strongest, it still does fill a room.

Will I continue to use the Warm Apple Pie Village Candle? Definitely, it feels more like a Christmas scent and I think it will replace my Banana Bread candle for this time of year.
Would I repurchase Warm Apple Pie Village Candle? I think I will, I'm going to be interested in discovering what other scents they do.
Would I recommend Warm Apple Pie Village Candle? I would, I was pleasantly surprised by how full this candle was.
Overall score out of 5? I'd give this candle a 3, the scent isn't very powerful in the sense that when I'm sat next to the candle burning I can't smell it, but when you walk into a room where one is burning, the scent really does come through.

Have you ever had a Village Candle before, let me know what you think? What do you think about candles? Do you have a favourite candle?

Friday First | Soap & Glory Flake Away

So I'm back with another product from the Soap & Glory gift set 'Soaper Heoes' this week it's Flake Away.

I'm starting to run low on my Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub, so I thought I'd give Flake Away a try. Flake Away is another exfoliator from Soap & Glory which contains shea butter, sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, sea salt and sugar.

I'll be honest, Flake Away isn't a product I'd smelt before so I was shocked when I first smelt this product. The peach scent really does come through and I found it to be a little bit too overwhelming. On the days I use my exfoliator I don't use my shower gel afterwards because I like the scent that is left behind, honestly I'm not overly happy with the scent that has been left behind. Although, I also feel like I'm the only person in the world who also doesn't like the scent of Sugar Crush, I find it too sweet and overwhelming.

I'm not sure if it's this product in general, or if it is because it's a travel size, but I found Flake Away to be very 'gloopy' compared to my Smoothie Star, it also didn't feel as rough as my Smoothie Star in the sense that I didn't feel that it was very exfoliating. However, my skin does feel soft after I used it.

Will I continue to use Flake Away? As you can see from the picture above, after only one use I've already used about half of the tub. Maybe when I run out of Smoothie Star, I'll use the rest of the product.
Would I repurchase Flake Away? I highly doubt it, I find the scent a little too sweet and overwhelming personally.
Would I recommend Flake Away? I'd still recommend Flake Away to people who I know would like the scent as it is still a good product.
Overall score out of 5? I'd give Flake Away a 3. Personally I really didn't like the scent, and I don't feel that it was as exfoliating as other Soap & Glory products, however my skin did feel softer after use.

Have you used Flake Away before, let me know what you think? Would you consider using Flake Away?

There is no blogpost up this Sunday as I'm away in Birmingham, but posts will return as normal next week!

Life | What's In My Bag

So I don't know about you, but I know that I'm super nosey and some of my favourite videos and blog posts are 'What's in my bag?' So seeing as I love reading them, it's only fair I do one!
So this is my bag. I picked it up from Sainsburys at the end of March I think, I know I got it just before I went on holiday, for £20. It just has two handles and three compartments, one bigger on where the majority of my stuff is thrown, and then one on the front and back as well as two small decorative pockets on the front that I don't use.

And here is all the stuff that gets thrown into my bag on a daily basis! Let's start in the middle and then work our way around clockwise..

1. So in the very centre of the picture is my notepad, it's kind of hidden by everything else. Seeing as this is the bag I use on a daily basis, but also for uni my notepad is usually in the back compartment.
2. My Pete Panda nail file. I always have a nail file in my bag cause you never know when you're going to need one. I picked this up in a pack of four from Primark for £1, because honestly they were too cute not to buy.
3. My pens, highlighters and memory stick. These all stick together in a small pocket in the main compartment. I have two black pens, and then my coloured pens cause I colour code my modules at uni, it just makes taking notes a lot easier.
4. My keys. I always need my keys on me so I can get in and out of my house. Yes that is a Leeds festival lanyard on them, it makes them easier to find in my bag.
5. My purse. Like my keys I always need my purse on me so I can actually get to uni and back. I got this for my birthday so I don't know how much it was but I do know it's genuine leather and it was picked up from TKMaxx.
6. Volvic bottle. I always have this on me, I usually just fill it up before I leave the house daily, saves me buying one when I'm at uni!
7. Phone charger. This always gets thrown into the bottom of my bag, infact I call it my travel charger because it's a lot more alive than my other charger. I never know when I'm going to need to charge my phone, so I don't take any chances.
8. Powder and powder brush. I always need to touch up my makeup during the day so I just take my powder with me so I don't look like such a huge sweaty mess. My powder brush is from Avon and I just use the translucent powder from Laura Paige.
9. Tic Tacs. I always have either a box of tic tacs or a packet of mints in my bag. It's currently apple tic tacs, and they are my absolutely favourites.
10. Hand gel & Hand cream. I always have hand gel in my bag for those times when I can't properly wash my hands with soap and water, because I'm always using hand gel my hands get dry quite quickly so I always have a hand cream with me. I just use the Carex hand gels and I'm currently using Hand Food from Soap & Glory, but you'll see this in a blog post soon.
11. Tissues. I always have tissues on me, I suffer with hayfever and before long I'm sure I'll have a cold..
12. Headphones. I'm always on public transport and therefore I always need my headphones on me.
13. Deodorant. Who doesn't want to feel fresh all day? I'm currently using Soft & Gentle Jasmine and Coco Milk.

I can't believe I carry all this around on a daily basis!

Friday First | Soap & Glory Hand Food

For my 21st Birthday I was lucky enough to be given a Soap & Glory gift set called 'Soaper Heroes' which contains 5 travel size favourite Soap & Glory items. There are so many products from Soap & Glory that I want to try, having one of these gift sets gives me the perfect chance to try a few, as well as review them for a few 'Friday First' posts.

I started off with Hand Food; I'm someone who always has a bottle of hand gel in my bag, I'm a student nurse so I'm always washing my hands and also the weather is changing so my hands are feeling really dry lately, so I was so glad when I saw Hand Food was included in this set.

Hand Food contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow and is scented with the original pink fragrance from Soap & Glory. Even from the first time using Hand Food my hands felt incredibly soft, nourished and moisturised. The scent isn't overwhelming and this isn't a greasy hand cream.

Will I continue to use Hand Food? Definitely, once I've finished my other hand cream.
Would I repurchase Hand Food? Definitely, I love how my hands feel after using it and I quite like the scent.
Would I recommend Hand Food? I definitely would.
Overall score out of 5? Initially I'd give it a 3, and that's after only using it for one day. After using is for a full week I'd up that to a 4, my hands do feel softer and it has helped my cuticles. Quick edit before uploading: I slightly burnt my hand last night, but I used this after running it under cold water, and this soothed my hand and my skin feels fine this morning. Yay for me being clumsy!

Have you used Hand Food before, let me know what you think? Would you consider using Hand Food?

Life | The Winter Warmer Wishlist

"October extinguished itself in a rush of howling winds and driving rain and November arrived, cold as frozen iron, with hard frosts every morning and icy drafts that bit at exposed hands and faces."
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

So winter has well and truly arrived, it's now windy, raining and incredibly cold all of a sudden, meaning that I have the perfect excuse to now wrap up warm. Finally it's hat, scarf and glove season!

As well as the weather turning colder, winter also brings the party season, for the party season I'm really enjoying a playsuits and the touch of lace. Below are some of the pieces I've picked out for winter both casual and some party pieces, enjoy!

Friday Firsts | Argon Oil Deep Moisturising Foot Pack

So basically what these pictures prove to me is that there is no attractive way to take a picture of anything on your feet..

So welcome to 'Friday Firsts'! I want to call this a series, but I have no idea how often this will be. Every time I have a new product it will appear in a 'Friday Firsts' so you can all see what I first think of a product and if I'll be reusing/repurchasing.

I picked up this foot pack whilst I was out with my mum, we got one each, it was only £1 so we thought why not! I'm a sucker for anything argon oil, although I prefer to use it on my hair rather than my skin, I thought it was worth a try at least. The instructions are pretty simple; use on clean and dry feet, take the boots out of the pack, unfold and put on for 15-20 minutes.

The boots claim to deeply penetrate the skin to 'reduce callus build-up' and 'help repair and soften cracked, split heels'. Seeing as they are meant to do this in 20 minutes, I was slightly skeptical but they were only £1!

I will tell you now the boots have the weirdest feeling, they are mainly plastic will the cream inside so it does feel like you're wearing plastic bags on your feet for 20 minutes.

I was pleasantly surprised, when I took these off there was some cream left over so I just rubbed this into my feet and then put on some socks whilst my feet dried off so nothing horrible stuck to them. But my feet did feel a lot softer, especially around the heel area which is always nice. My feet did feel super moisturised and it felt like I'd spent a lot of money treating myself.

Would I reuse the foot pack? I think I would, it was a nice and simple 20 minute pamper.
Would I repurchase the foot pack? I would, I don't know if I'd rush out tomorrow to buy one, but if I was out and I saw one I'd pick one up again.

Would I recommend the foot pack? I would. Like I said above, it's a simple 20 minute home pamper treatment.
Overall score out of 5? I'd give this pack a 3, the results didn't last longer than a day and there was cream that had to be rubbed in afterwards, but my feet did feel initially softer.

What are your thoughts on Argon Oil? Would you ever consider using a product like this? Let me know!
