Life | Dear November

Dear November,

First, I'm writing to you a day early and for this I apologise. I'm going to be seeing October off in style and I want to make sure that you get this letter on time.

My brother turns 18 this month, so I'm excited to celebrate that with him. My little brother who I still see as a little boy will legally be an adult, I cannot wait to see him grow up.

I see two of my favourite bands this month, both within a night of each other. It's going to be such a fun weekend, I get a weekend away with Ryan, , we get to explore the German Christmas market, we get to listen to amazing music live, and we get a Five Guys, what more could I want?

Bonfire night is a thing too, but I'm not actually sure if I'll be doing anything for that. Other than that you're going to be a quite month November. I'm going to cherish those quiet moments to snuggle up on those cold nights whilst doing my uni work and just enjoy those quiet nights.

I hope you're filled with jumpers, soft blankets, warm hot chocolates, quiet nights, and much more November. I look forward to the surprises that you'll bring.

Fashion | Styling This Season's Must Have Colour

Black Vest Top, Primark, £2.50
Burgundy Skirt, Primark, £10?
Tights, Primark, Given by a friend
Boots, Independent Shoe Shop, £15
Heels, Primark, £20
This is how I would normally wear this skirt on a daily basis, I would probably opt for the little ankle boots on a daily basis.
In fact this is what I opted to wear last night to an engagement party with the heels.

Short Sleeved Shirt, Primark, Last Season
Another way to style this skirt with a lighter colour, once again I'd probably wear this on a daily basis with the little ankle boots.

Long Sleeved Shirt, Primark, Last Season
A long sleeve shirt adds a completely different look. Looks a lot more elegant whilst wearing heels with this shirt.

Black Clutch, Primark, £10?
This is my go to clutch for a night out. It's simple, classic and timeless.

If I really want to dress up any of these outfits these are the products I'd instantly go for.
The perfect deep red wine shade which is the must have shade for this Autumn/Winter.

Described as a 'deep burgundy shimmer' which is exactly how this colour swatches.

O.P.I Nail Lacquer, Lincoln Park After Dark
A very deep purple which almost looks black, I feel this colour would compliment the burgundy skirt perfectly whilst adding another depth to this seasons must have colour.

This post kind of turned into a Primark post, which was not intended! Everything I'd pair with this skirt just happened to be from Primark. How would you style this skirt?

Life | Get To Know The Blogger Tag

So prepare yourself for a really long text post right here! Here is the 'Get to know the blogger tag'.
1.  List 5 random facts about yourself
- I have three middle names; Samantha, Amber, Louise
- I have the biggest obsession with Harry Potter
- I also have a slight obsession with anything to do with owls
- I have a qualification in manicure
- I once had pink in my hair!

2.  Describe your relationship with your parents.
My relationship with my parents is fantastic, we have always had a really good relationship and we've always been really close. We've always had a really open relationship, meaning that I can talk to my parents about everything.

3.  List 3 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could
- Just stop worrying about all the small little things, I promise you they're not important
- That boy you're talking to? He's an idiot like the others and he's going to hurt you, just like you know he's going to
- These GCSE's are not going to define you and shape your life as much as you think

4.  What are the 3 things that make you most happy right now?- My family and my boyfriend
- Marathoning tv shows that I need to catch up on
- Life finally seems to going exactly how I want it to

5.  What is the hardest thing you have ever experienced?
Quite simply, suffering from anxiety. It's a game changer believe me.

6.  What is your dream job, and why?
Mental Health Nurse. I believe that the attitudes towards mental health needs to change and I love working with people who need my help, I'm almost there!

7.  What are 3 passions you have?
- Challenging attitudes towards mental health
- Harry Potter
- Shopping

8.  List 3 people who have influenced you and describe how.
- Is it cheating to use my parents for one point? Both have equally influenced me so much throughout my life and I am who I am because of them
- Tom Fletcher. He showed me that you can continue to live a normal life and very successful life even if you have a mental health illness, you don't need to let it control your life.
- Harry Potter. Such a cliche I know, but he taught me that no matter what life throws at you you can always come out stronger and the better person.

9.  Describe your most embarrassing moment.
I get embarrassed so easily so potentially every moment in my life could be classed as this. I remember walking into a lamppost once, does that count?

10. Describe 3 pet peeves you have.
- Being late. I have always being bought up with the saying 'if you're not 15 minutes early, you're late' and I have stuck by this. Being late can actually send me into a huge panic, I really don't like it.
- Mess. If you make yourself a sandwich clean up the crumbs, don't leave them lying around for someone else to clean up.
- Being judged because I'm young. Granted I look a lot younger than I actually am, but don't just assume I'm like 'every other youngster of today'.

11.  Describe a typical day in your current life.
- Uni days; I wake up, get ready, go to uni, come home and do any uni work I need to do.
- Days off; I wake up, get ready if I'm going anywhere, do anything I need to do, drink a thousand cups of tea a day and catch up on tv I've missed..
- Days I'm going to Ryan's; If I go after uni it's the exact same routine with packing added in the morning and catching a train added after. If I go from home I get up, get ready, pack, catch up on tv and then travel.

12.  Describe 3 weaknesses you have.
- Anxiety. I let my anxiety get the better of me, a lot.
- Jump to conclusions. I jump to conclusions so quickly, not about people but usually situations that I'm involved in.
- I can be the moodiest bitch at times, I can only say sorry.

13.  Describe 3 strengths you have.
- I'm becoming stronger. I'm starting to be able to stand up for myself a lot more now.
- I can plan for England, and I mean it. I can plan every detail of my life to the exact point and I will stick to these plans. It makes my academic life incredibly planned and easy to maintain.
- I'm reliable. Because I hate being late I will always be where I say I will be exactly when I say so, unless I have a fantastic reason why.

14.  If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I really want to say dog, but I know I'm more cat. I'm incredibly independent but I love the attention. I enjoy a good night out and enjoy my downtime, but I'd prefer to be at home sleeping most of the time.

15.  What are your 3 greatest accomplishments?
- I got into uni, that is my biggest achievement so far. The fact I'm in my final year of uni is another fantastic achievement.
- I'm in a relationship that I've been in for almost three years. Although I think that is more an achievement to Ryan for putting up with me for this long.
- I've learnt to say no. This sounds ridiculous, however if you'd have known me a few years ago you'd have seen such a different girl, who was so easily pushed over.

16.  What is the thing you most wish you were great at?
I honestly wish I could draw, I love the idea of being so creative and being able to put it all down on paper.

17.  What has been the most difficult thing you have had to forgive?
Being lied to straight to my face, unfortunately this has happened to many times to me in my life.

18. If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
Besides Leeds, which is incredibly obvious, I'd love to live in the country in a proper little country house. You know the house Miss Honey lives in in Matilda? Yeah, that.

19.  Describe 3 significant memories from your childhood.
- Playing Mary in my school's Christmas Play.
- Playing on my slide in the garden.
- Riding around my garden in circles on my bike.

20.  If you could have one superpower, what would it be and what would you do with it first?
I'd like to be able to be invisible as an when I'd want to, just like Violet in The Incredibles.

21. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?
- 5 Years; Hopefully living with Ryan and enjoying my job.
- 10 Years; Hopefully settled down with a family, still enjoying my job.
- 15 Years; This far ahead in the future is difficult, I just want to be happy.

22.  List your top 3 hobbies and why you love them.
- Blogging; It gives me time to escape from uni work for a little while and enjoy the things I sometimes forget in life.
- Finding new places to eat; Me and Ryan do this too often..
- Reading; It is my ultimate escape.

23.  If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be & what would you eat?
I would love to do this with so many people, mainly Freddie Mercury, Brian Epstein or Anne Frank, I have no idea what we'd eat, I'd let them have their favourite meal.

24.  What is your favourite part of your body and why?
My eyes; when I do my makeup and it goes right they look really nice.

25.  What is your love language?
My love language is between physical touch and quality time. Which doesn't surprise me and sums me up pretty well.

26.  What do you think people misunderstand most about you?
I'm not rude, I'm incredibly shy and social anxiety is a thing. I hate talking in public, even worse when it's people I don't know. I get myself worked up so easily. I'm not being rude, I just feel awkward 99% of the time.

27.  List 3 things you would hope to be remembered for.
- Being myself
-Being kind
- Making a difference

So this was a lot longer than I expected, if you're still reading this far down then well done you!

Beauty | The Power of Tea Tree & Witch Hazel

I honestly never expected these products to work as well as they did and I never expect to be repurchasing them both.

I picked both of these products up as I was looking for something affordable which would really help out my skin issues at the time. Both of these products are from Boots own line of Tea Tree & Witch Hazel skin care. I picked up a blemish stick and a back spray.

Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Blemish Stick, £2.59
Simply a solid stick which you dab onto the needed area. I apply this directly to the areas on my face that I need after I have washed my face before I apply my moisturisor, twice a day. This is my second blemish stick and I'll be picking up my third very very soon.

Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Back Spray, £4.99
I picked this up as I struggle with acne on my shoulders and the top of my back and I had not been able to find a product for this, I was even looking at buying one from Amazon for over £10 then I stumbled across this. I simply spray this over my shoulders and the top of my back whilst I'm getting ready in the morning and in the same areas once I get out of the shower before I go to bed. This is also my second bottle of this product to.

I would highly recommend both products, they have a fantastic price tag which is easily affordable for anyone's budget. Neither product smells too much of tea tree, which is great because I know that is everyone's fear when using a product that contains tea tree.

If I had to rate this product, it would easily score a 4/5. My only criticism is that the products, especially the blemish stick could be bigger in size!

Beauty | Garnier Micellar Water

Once again, another product of which I am totally late to the party on, the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. The picture above is a picture of my own bottle which I have been using twice daily for around 3 weeks, and you can see that I have hardly made a dent in it, a little really does go a long way with this product.

The official Garnier website describes this product as "a magnet" and states that "the cleansing agents capture and lift away dirt from the skin". It's true, I still don't understand how this product works but I have been able to replace taking my makeup off with face wipes and I solely use my micellar water instead.

It too easy to just write all this down and claim it's a fantastic product, so I gathered photographic evidence to show just how great this product is.
Here is how that face of makeup looked later that night on a cotton pad. I think it's stupidly cute how you can still see the shape of my eyeliner on the pad, but that just proves that you really don't have to rub to remove makeup with this product. I simply hold a cotton pad on my eye for about a minute, because I usually have 3-4 layers of eyeliner on anyway, before I use another pad to remove the rest of my makeup. The bottom pad is what is left on my face after I've washed it and I think everything has been removed.
I used these products in the morning along with my Micellar Water: Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily WashAvon Care 3 in 1 Cleansing LotionGarnier Micellar WaterBoots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Blemish StickGarnier Moisture Match & Malibu Face Cream.
I use these products in an evening with my Miceller Water: Avon Care 3 in 1 Cleansing Lotion, Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Blemish Stick & my Garnier Moisture Match.
I also decided to show just how easily it removes my lip colours. I just just a small amount of Micellar water on a cotton pad like normal and all of the colour was removed from my lips, without staining and without smearing colour all over my face.

I would highly recommend this product, it has completely changed my skin care game and I feel that my skin has definitely benefited from it. It is perfect for sensitive skin and it's price tag is fantastic for how much product you get and for how long it will last you.

World Mental Health Day 2014

I don't usually blog on a Friday but today is a very important exception.

Today is World Mental Health Day and the focus of this year is Schizophrenia.

As a student mental health nurse today is an important day for me today, but also personally. Mental health is something which holds a very special place in both my heart and my life.

I'm not going to go into detail about Schizophrenia, and list a load of facts here because I think it would be more beneficial for you to go and read up on it yourself. Even if you only spend 2 minutes today reading up about mental health, that is better than nothing.

If there is one thing I want to do most in my life it is raise more awareness for mental health, and I think today is a fantastic day to start with it here on my blog.

Beauty | DIY Lip Scrub

As you saw in my last post I've recently bought a Matte Balm lip crayon, meaning that I need my lips to look as smooth as possible so what better excuse to try out the recipe for a DIY lip scrub?

I've been looking for a lip scrub for a while, I haven't been able to find one and I don't live close enough to a Lush to go and pick up theirs, despite wanting to try it so badly.

So of course, doing what every girl does when wanting to find an easy way to make something at home, I turned to Pinterest and found this simple recipe.

Needed Ingredients:
  • Small bowl for mixing
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Small container to store

How To Make:
1. Add honey and sugar into the small bowl
2. Add the olive oil and mix well (Add vaseline here if your lips are extra dry!)
3. Spoon into container.

It really is a simple method and it's so easy to do, it took me less than 5 minutes.

If you're feeling extra creative you could add 2-3 drops of food colouring or a small amount of coloured lipstick if you wanted your lip scrub to be colourful.

My only criticism is that I feel there was too much oil in this recipe and it made my lip scrub a bit too wet for my liking, next time I'll experiment with adding more sugar.

Life | Dear October

Dear October,

It's me again, hello. I told you I'd continue to do these letters, so lets see where we're going this month.

First and foremost, this is the month I turn 21 and I cannot wait! It's going to be a super busy month because of this and I have so many celebrations planned, with both friends and family. I've got a day planned with one of my best friends, which I cannot wait for, I have a night out planned, I have family time planned. With all the stress the organisation has bought, I just hope these celebrations are as amazing as I want them to be.

You're also the month when Halloween falls, and I cannot wait. As I've grown older I've fallen in love with Halloween more. It's an excuse to dress up and have a night out, what's not to love? I think I have my outfit planned, we'll have to see.

As well as my own family plans I've also got commitments with my Ryan's family this month, which will be nice. I'm slowly but surely starting to get to know more of Ryan's family, so these plans will be really nice too.

Let's face it, uni is going to become a lot more busy this month. This absolutely terrifies me, but I'm also excited. I just want to attack this year with everything I have. Bring it on!

I'm still waiting for Autumn to arrive October, it's still warm outside which means I still don't have an excuse to wear a huge chunky scarf or my hat. I hope you bring some more autumnal weather October, I need an excuse to wear my new skirt.

So you're going to be a really busy month for me October, but I'm excited and ready for what you'll bring along with you October. I have a feeling you're going to fly by October, but don't go too quickly please!
